A little bit about myself, I was born in San Francisco but have called South Florida home for over 25 years. I grew up in Pompano Beach, attended Pope John Paul II High School in Boca, University of Florida for my Bachelor's, FAU for my Master's, and Nova Southeastern University for my Dental Degree. After dental school, I worked in Eustis, FL for 2 years. Then moved back to West Palm Beach and worked for a "corporate" practice for another 2 years. Finally, I started my practice here in Boynton Beach in the summer of 2010. Thanks to the kind words of others we have grown steadily from one assistant to a team of seven. The majority of our new patients are referrals. Come meet us and you will see why. With over 15 years of dedicated experience in Preventive Dental care, he brings a wealth of clinical knowledge and compassionate care to his patients and their families. He earned his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2008. Thank you for considering us to be your dental home. Or if you are already part of the family, I hope we continually exceed your expectations. We take great pride in providing you with the care you deserve. I remind myself and my team here at Dea Family Dentistry that we do not simply treat teeth but rather the person to whom those teeth belong. We are all unique and individuals. You should be treated as such and the only way to accomplish that is by getting to know you. We offer comprehensive exams that will include an oral cancer screening, personalized x-rays (more on this subject when you come in), and a tour of your mouth with our intraoral and infrared cameras. We will address your concerns, if any, and tell you what we plan on doing and why. Dr. Victor DMD is fluent in Mandarin and also offers consultations in Spanish.

A proactive approach to health involves understanding and managing potential risks. Dr. Victor DMD provides expert care for a range of conditions, focusing on early detection and effective management to support your long-term wellness. Common areas of focus include:

    • Broken Tooth: A broken tooth, if left untreated, can lead to infection, further damage, and ultimately tooth loss, highlighting the importance of regular dental checkups for early detection and prevention.
    • Cavity: Maintaining good oral hygiene significantly reduces your risk of developing cavities, protecting your smile and contributing to your overall well-being.
    • Chipped Tooth: Catching a chipped tooth early helps prevent more serious problems like tooth decay, infection, or the need for extensive restorative work, saving you time and money.
    • Dental Disorders: Many dental disorders are preventable through proactive measures like brushing, flossing, and regular dental visits, safeguarding your oral health for years to come.
    • Gingivitis: Managing gingivitis effectively, through professional cleaning and at-home care, reduces your risk of developing more severe gum disease.
    • Grinding of Teeth: Grinding your teeth, or bruxism, can wear down enamel, leading to cavities and sensitivity—catching it early with a dental check-up prevents major problems.
    • Gum Disease: Gum disease, or periodontal disease, is a preventable infection that damages the gums and bone supporting your teeth, and early detection through regular checkups is key to preventing serious complications.
    • Loose Teeth: Preventing serious dental issues starts with noticing changes like loose teeth. Schedule a visit with your dentist to determine the cause and receive preventive treatment.
    • Tooth Abscess: Managing oral health effectively through regular brushing, flossing, and professional cleanings helps reduce your risk of developing a tooth abscess and its associated pain and discomfort.
    • Tooth Damage: Protecting your teeth from damage through preventive measures like wearing a mouthguard during sports or avoiding hard candies helps maintain your oral health and overall well-being.
    • Tooth Decay: Tooth decay, or cavities, is preventable with good oral hygiene habits like brushing and flossing, protecting your teeth and gums from serious damage.
    • Toothache: Toothaches often signal underlying dental problems; addressing them early helps prevent complications and preserves your oral health, impacting overall well-being.

    • Ceramic Dental Crowns: A ceramic crown provides a long-lasting restoration, safeguarding your tooth from further decay or fracture and maintaining its function.
    • Denture Repair: Regular denture repair is a proactive step to preserve the health of your gums and jawbone, promoting overall oral health.
    • Tooth-Conserving Dentistry: Protecting your natural teeth is key to your overall health, and tooth-conserving dentistry provides the necessary preventive and restorative care to achieve that.
    • Restoration of Dental Implants: Protecting your investment in dental implants involves regular restoration appointments to detect and treat minor problems before they become major concerns.
    • Dental Bonding: As part of your commitment to overall wellness, dental bonding offers a straightforward solution to improve tooth structure and esthetics, thereby reducing the risk of more complex dental issues down the line.
    • Partial Dentures: Replacing missing teeth with partial dentures is a proactive step in preventing the development of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.
    • Dental Crown: To safeguard your oral health, a dental crown can be used to strengthen a weakened tooth, preventing future infection or the need for more extensive dental work.
    • Implant-Supported Dentures: Take a proactive step towards better oral health and overall well-being by exploring implant-supported dentures; they provide a stable base for your dentures, preventing further jawbone loss and improving your quality of life.
    • Implant-Supported Bridge: By opting for an implant-supported bridge, you're proactively preventing the shifting of remaining teeth and the potential for bite problems that come with missing teeth.
    • Dental Bridge: To maintain a healthy smile and prevent bite problems, consider a dental bridge as a solution for restoring missing teeth.

Here are answers to some common questions about proactive Preventive Dental care with Dr. Victor DMD:

How often should I visit the dentist for a check-up and cleaning?
At Dr. Victor DMD, we recommend seeing a dentist and dental hygienist every six months. This schedule allows us to remove tartar buildup that brushing can't, catch cavities early, and screen for gum disease and oral cancer.
Why are routine dental cleanings so important for prevention?
Even with excellent brushing and flossing, plaque hardens into tartar that only a professional cleaning can remove. This is crucial for preventing cavities and, more importantly, gum disease, which has links to other health problems like heart disease.
How is oral health connected to my overall health?
Your oral health is intrinsically linked to your overall well-being. Chronic gum inflammation, or periodontitis, has been linked to an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, and poorly controlled diabetes. Preventive dental care, therefore, is an essential part of maintaining your overall body health.
What is the difference between gingivitis and periodontitis?
Gingivitis is an early, reversible stage of gum disease, characterized by red, swollen gums that may bleed easily. If left untreated, gingivitis can progress to periodontitis, a more serious stage where the bone supporting your teeth is damaged, potentially leading to tooth loss.
When should my child first see a dentist?
Dr. Victor DMD recommends a child's first dental visit within six months of their first tooth erupting, or by their first birthday. This early visit is crucial for ensuring proper tooth development and establishing a positive dental home for the future.
What are dental sealants, and who should get them?
Dental sealants are a thin, protective plastic coating applied to the chewing surfaces of back teeth (molars). They are a powerful preventive tool, especially for children and teenagers, sealing out food and plaque to prevent cavities from forming in the deep grooves of the teeth.
    What is TMJ disorder?
Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) disorder is a condition affecting the jaw joint and the muscles that control jaw movement. Common symptoms include jaw pain, clicking or popping sounds, and headaches. Dr. Victor DMD can help diagnose the issue and recommend treatments like a custom nightguard to prevent damage from grinding.
What are veneers and how are they different from crowns?
Veneers are thin porcelain shells bonded to the front of teeth to improve their appearance. Crowns, on the other hand, are caps that cover the entire tooth to restore its shape, size, and strength after significant damage or decay.
