          • Supraventricular Tachycardia: Regular monitoring and early diagnosis of supraventricular tachycardia are essential for preventing long-term damage to your heart and reducing the risk of life-threatening events.
          • Heart Attack (Acute Myocardial Infarction): A heart attack happens when blood flow to part of your heart is blocked, causing damage; preventing heart disease through lifestyle changes and regular checkups significantly reduces your risk.
          • Hyperlipidemia: High cholesterol, or hyperlipidemia, is a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke, making early detection and management crucial for preventing serious health problems.
          • Rheumatic Mitral Stenosis: Early detection of rheumatic mitral stenosis is crucial, as it can lead to serious heart complications if left untreated, emphasizing the need for regular cardiovascular checkups.
          • Rheumatic Aortic Valve Disorders: Managing rheumatic aortic valve disease involves proactive steps to prevent further damage to your heart's aortic valve and avoid serious complications like heart failure, emphasizing the importance of regular checkups.
          • High Triglycerides: Don't let high triglycerides put your heart health at risk – proactive monitoring and management can help you maintain a healthy heart and prevent future cardiovascular events.
          • Thrombosis: Thrombosis, a serious condition involving blood clot formation, is often preventable through lifestyle changes and medical interventions.
          • Chronic Venous Embolism Thrombosis: Managing chronic venous embolism thrombosis focuses on preventing future blood clots from forming in the veins and traveling to your lungs, thereby preventing serious health consequences; it involves lifestyle modifications and potential long-term medication.
          • Nonrheumatic Tricuspid Disease: Nonrheumatic tricuspid disease affects the tricuspid valve in your heart, and early detection through regular checkups can help prevent serious complications.
          • Alcoholic Cardiomyopathy: Regular health checkups can help detect alcoholic cardiomyopathy early, allowing for timely interventions like reducing alcohol intake to prevent further heart damage.
          • Cardiovascular Disease: Cardiovascular disease is often preventable, and by controlling risk factors like high blood pressure and cholesterol, you can significantly reduce your chances of developing it.
          • Chronic Congestive Heart Failure: Chronic congestive heart failure, a serious condition, can be better managed through lifestyle changes and medication, thereby improving your heart's function and quality of life.

Taking proactive steps is central to long-term health. Dr. David Axline offers a range of key preventive screenings and services designed to provide crucial insights into your health and support your well-being:

          • Thrombolysis: By dissolving blood clots that block blood flow to your heart or brain, thrombolysis is a life-saving treatment that can dramatically reduce the severity and long-term effects of heart attacks and strokes.
          • Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI): To keep your heart healthy, PCI can be used to clear blockages in your coronary arteries, helping prevent future cardiovascular events.
          • Cardiac Catheterization (incl. Coronary Angiography): A cardiac catheterization helps doctors check your heart's arteries for blockages that could lead to a heart attack or stroke, allowing for early intervention and prevention.
          • Arrhythmia Screening: Early detection is key to managing heart health; arrhythmia screening helps identify irregular heartbeats, allowing for prompt diagnosis and treatment.
          • Structural Heart Disease Evaluations and Treatment: Take a proactive step towards a healthier heart by undergoing a structural heart disease evaluation to detect potential problems early and prevent serious complications.
          • Cardiac Myocardial Perfusion Imaging: As a proactive measure to maintain your cardiovascular health, cardiac myocardial perfusion imaging offers a detailed picture of your heart's blood supply, enabling early detection of coronary artery disease and reducing your risk of future heart events.
          • Peripheral Arterial Disease Screening (PAD): Don't wait for symptoms – proactive PAD screening helps identify and treat artery narrowing in your legs and feet before they cause significant health issues.
          • HeartAware Online Risk Screening: Take charge of your heart health with HeartAware: a quick online screening that helps identify your risk for heart disease and stroke, allowing for early intervention.
          • Ablation for Cardiac Arrhythmias: Cardiac ablation is a procedure that can help prevent dangerous heart rhythms by correcting abnormal electrical signals in your heart.
          • Automatic Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) Implantation: As a proactive measure against life-threatening heart rhythm disturbances, an ICD is implanted to monitor and correct irregular heartbeats, potentially saving your life.
          • Coronary Angiogram: A coronary angiogram is a procedure that uses X-ray imaging to visualize your heart's blood vessels, helping doctors detect blockages that could lead to a heart attack or stroke.
          • Vascular Duplex Ultrasonography and Plethysmography: Take charge of your cardiovascular health with a vascular duplex ultrasound and plethysmography. This simple test provides crucial insights into your circulatory system, enabling early detection of conditions that could lead to a stroke or heart attack.

Here are answers to some common questions about proactive Cardiovascular care with Dr. David Axline:

What is a Cardiologist, and when should I see one?
A cardiologist is a medical expert specializing in the heart and blood vessels. You should see a cardiologist if you experience symptoms like chest pain or shortness of breath, have a family history of heart disease, or have risk factors like high blood pressure or high cholesterol that need expert management.
What can I expect during my first visit with Dr. David Axline?
Your first visit with Dr. Axline will be a comprehensive cardiovascular assessment. We will review your medical and family history, perform a physical exam, obtain an EKG, and discuss lifestyle and risk factors. This is the first step in creating a personalized heart health plan for you.
What are the most important things I can do to prevent a heart attack?
Taking control of your cardiovascular health involves managing blood pressure and cholesterol, quitting smoking, being physically active, and eating a heart-healthy diet. These proactive steps empower you to significantly reduce your risk of a heart attack. Dr. Axline and his team are here to support you in achieving and maintaining a healthy heart.
What is the difference between 'good' (HDL) and 'bad' (LDL) cholesterol?
LDL, or "lousy" cholesterol, builds up plaque in your arteries, potentially causing blockages. HDL, or "healthy" cholesterol, helps remove LDL from your body. Dr. Axline helps manage both to prevent heart disease.
What is Atrial Fibrillation (AFib), and is it dangerous?
Atrial fibrillation (AFib) is a common type of irregular and often rapid heartbeat. While the irregular rhythm itself is not usually life-threatening, it significantly increases the risk of stroke. Dr. Axline is an expert in managing AFib with medications and procedures to control the rhythm and prevent strokes.
          What is an echocardiogram?
An echocardiogram, or "echo," is a safe and painless ultrasound of the heart. It uses sound waves to create moving pictures of the heart, allowing Dr. Axline to assess the strength of the heart muscle, check the function of the heart valves, and detect structural problems.
What is the purpose of cardiac rehabilitation?
Cardiac rehabilitation is a medically supervised program of exercise and education designed to help patients recover from heart conditions like heart attacks, stents, or heart surgery. It strengthens the heart, reduces risk factors, and helps patients safely regain their confidence and quality of life.
          What is heart failure?
Heart failure doesn't mean the heart has stopped working, but rather that it isn't pumping blood as efficiently as it should. It's a chronic condition, but manageable. Dr. Axline uses medications and lifestyle changes to improve heart function and reduce symptoms like shortness of breath and swelling.
