Privacy, Copyright, and Trademarks
Your Rights and Ours
NCPC does not automatically collect any information about you or
your online habits. The NCPC Web server does collect IP addresses
for calculation of aggregate visitor statistics. NCPC staff use
these data to help us understand the interests of our audience.
No information is released to any third parties; data are not sold
If you choose to fill out the subscription request for NCPC's newsletter,
Catalyst, you must provide mailing information to be placed on the
mailing list to receive the monthly paper newsletter. NCPC does
not share or sell mailing lists; your address will not be released
for any purpose other than receipt of the Catalyst.
We welcome links to this site; prior permission to link is not
required. However, if you require a banner or graphic, please send
your request to the webmaster using our contact form or the address
at the bottom of this page. NCCPC reserves the right to refuse links
from sites that do not support the values of NCCPC.
You may cite or refer to information in our Web properties (ncpc.org,
mcgruff.org, weprevent.org, crimepreventcoalition.org, nationaltcc.org)
in on-line services or other media, but you may not reproduce or
distribute our materials in whole or in part without the prior written
permission of NCPC. Requests to use NCPC material in for-profit
works will not be granted.
Graphics and textual material on NCPC sites are not in the public
domain. NCPC retains all rights, title, and interest in the content.
Accordingly, we ask that you not reproduce, publish or distribute
our content without express written consent. You may print out a
copy of the content for your personal use as long as you do not
remove or alter any copyright, trademark, registered mark, or other
proprietary notice or legend appearing on the content.
NCPC encourages visitors to its sites to use information from the
site to help others. Permission to reproduce content in print or
media will generally be granted for government, non-profit, and
educational groups, and for use by neighborhood and community groups.
If permission is granted, the following requirements will be imposed:
- Text may not be altered.
- Attribution must be given to NCPC as author of the text.
- The address must be given for the original Web document.
NCPC has no practical means for updating materials that have been
copied to other sites. For this reason, on-line reproduction of
NCPC Web publications is discouraged and will generally not be approved.
You may not reproduce or distribute any image from NCPC Web properties
without securing written permission in advance from NCPC. To request
such permission, send e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. Be sure to include
your name and address, a description of the purpose of your intended
distribution of NCPC materials, the context in which NCPC materials
will be used, and a specific description of the information and/or
images you would like to use.
Some images/graphics are licensed by NCPC for use under the copyright
law. Your use of these images without entering into a licensing
agreement with the image owners will contravene copyright law.
McGruff the Crime Dog® and Take a Bite Out of Crime® are
registered marks of the National Crime Prevention Council. These
registered marks are the principal means by which the public recognizes
NCPC and its products; use of these registered marks is reserved

You may not use our logos and service marks (graphics of McGruff®
or Scruff®) without obtaining prior written authorization. You
may not use our service marks as or as part of your own trademarks,
or to identify products or services that are not ours. You may not
use our service marks in a manner that is likely to create confusion
or in a manner that inaccurately implies NCPC sponsorship or endorsement
or a product, service, or activity.
Please use the appropriate trademark notice (®, (sm)) with
our trademarks. Images of McGruff the Crime Dog® should be accompanied
by the service mark notice (sm), unless otherwise marked with a
registration mark (®). Examples of appropriate notice for our

In using our registered marks, we ask that you not alter, edit,
modify, or combine marks.
If permission to use an image of McGruff the Crime Dog® is
granted, only that image may be used. Substitution of a different
image is not acceptable; permission must be granted for each image
